More about Juolin:

In fall of 2021, Juolin got the privilege to join Hong Kong Exile’s years long research project, Heaven FM. Heaven FM is an interdisciplinary work that was premiered in Jan 2024. Through this process, Juolin was constantly amazed by her college’s brilliant inputs and Natalie Gan’s leadership. Heaven FM inspired the ensemble of teamwork, intimacy and collaboration. Through this project and other engagements with Natalie, she became not only someone Juolin looks up to, but also a mentor and a good friend of Juolin’s.

The internship Juolin had with Odd Meridian Arts Society in season 2021/22, was an unforgettable experience. Juolin shadowed Ziyian Kwan in projects in various scales. She learned not only in the creative process, but also in production and administration.

In Dec 2022 Juolin was a part of the premier of You Touch Me. You Touch Me is an ensemble piece choreographed by Emmalena Fredriksson and Arash Khakpour. This production has a special place in Juolin’s heart. The project started in 2019, and it was one of first professional projects Juolin engaged in. The way Emmalena and Arash guided the process, was deeply motivating. This experience deeply influenced Juolin’s artistry and prospective.

In summer of 2023, Juolin was involved in two contemporary opera productions. Into the Little Hill produced by Astrolabe Musik Theatre, choreographed by Idan Cohen and Queen of Carthage, produced by re:Naissance Opera and choreographed by Marisa Gold. It was a huge honour to work with different media.

As for Juolin’s own choreographic practice, her solo work Luna, a dance with her matcha green Tatung Rice Cooker, was performed in multiple contexts in 2023 and 2024. It was first created at WhatLab in Oct 2022, performed in the program of 10.2.10 Material World. The solo was then remounted for Asian Heritage Month at Morrow in May of 2023. Luna was then invited to the stage of Vancouver TiwanFest in Sep 2024.

Lately, Juolin created two solo works in progress through two separate residency opportunities this year. Soup of Forgetfulness was created through the generous support of Odd Meridian Arts, Foray residency in Jan 2024. And Closed Eyes was created in support of Co.Erasga’s Studio Salon Series in April of 2024.
